The Our Water Campaign is going to Council to support two pieces of legislation that would bring Pittsburgh closer to having safe, affordable water.
Council will be voting on a mandatory disclosure of lead lines to new homeowners and renters, and another bill that would replace homeowner's private lead lines for free! Passing these bills would be two huge wins for the Our Water Campaign!

Learn more about the legislation:
Ordinance 1614 will make the disclosure of lead plumbing manditory in the sale of homes. This legislation will ensure new homeowners have the right information and the opportunity to protect themselves and their families from lead. This legislation will also help the city learn where lead lines are in the city so we can solve the lead problem.
Resolution 1613 calls for full lead line replacement. We now know that PWSA has been doing dangerous partial line replacements for years. The Our Water Campaign has been advocating for this policy for months and we support this resolution to allow the City to offer to replace private lead service lines at little or no cost to the homeowner and ban partial line replacements. Partial lead line replacements are especially dangerous for low-income families who cannot afford to pay to have their side of the lead service line replaced. Families should not have to pay thousands of dollars just to have clean drinking water.
