The Artsmiths of Pittsburgh
1635 McFarland Rd, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15216
PLEASE NOTE: This is a week long summer camp held at The Artsmiths in Mt. Lebanon; each class is a 6.5 hour session from 9am to 3:30pm. Registering for this camp includes registration for the full week of Monday, July 17th through Friday, July 21st.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: Explore the process of designing from your imagination with drawings and develop your vision into a 3-D figure. Then through sewing magic, creative needling, string theory, and pattern making we will bring our drawing to life as Kreepy Dolls.
The Society for Contemporary Craft presents contemporary art in craft media by international, national and regional artists. Contemporary Craft offers cutting edge exhibitions focused on multicultural diversity and non-mainstream art, as well as a range of classes, community outreach programs, and a retail store.
INSTRUCTOR: Daniel Baxter was born in 1980 and is a graduate of Cleveland Institute of Art 03' BFA Drawing. Daniel found an abandoned Kreepy Doll Factory to tend to, and began bringing one of a kind magic dolls to life. Later while exploring the wilderness in NYC Baxter and friends created the TV show «Food Party» for IFC. Since returning to Pittsburgh in 2010 the Kreepy Doll Factory has created toys 24 hours a day. Baxter hopes to create «greater things than imaginable» in the future…
MATERIALS NEEDED: All materials are provided by the Artsmiths of Pittsburgh and costs are included in the tuition.
LUNCH: Students must bring a packed lunch unless other arrangements have been made through The Artsmiths by completing our Lunch Sign Up Form and paying the resulting fees at least one week prior to the start of camp. A limited amount of food and beverage may be available for purchase at our Koolkat Café.
