Hilltopolis is an outdoor festival highlighting social innovation through music and activism. National acts join with breakout local artists in an unforgettable setting to benefit Pittsburgh nonprofits.
Hilltopolis is a free event. Everyone is welcome.
The Cool Kids
Underground Chicago rappers Chuck Inglish and Sir Michael Rocks have reunited and are putting the finishing touches on their first new album in 6 years, Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe. Creators of barrier-breaking hip-hop, The Cool Kids were one of the first bands to ride a wave of online popularity to the top of the world of underground hip-hop. Along the way they created cult classics albums like The Bake Sale and When Fish Ride Bicycles.
Creatives Drink: Pregame + After Party
Designed to inspire, Chancelor Humphrey and Cody Baker have created Pittsburgh’s most anticipated quarterly gathering for creatives. Hundreds of Pittsburgh’s up-and-coming artists, designers, and innovators have taken over venues like the Ace Hotel Pittsburgh, August Wilson Center for African American Culture and Carnegie Museum of Art for hours of great drinks and conversations.
Pk Delay & Pet Zebra
At the top of Pittsburgh’s next class of homegrown hip-hop talent, Pk Delay & Pet Zebra dominate the city’s underground scene. With both artists putting out new projects this year, it could be their hottest set to date.
DJ Pete Butta
Serving as Hilltopolis' resident DJ at the Creatives Drink: Pregame & After Party, Pete Butta is one of Pittsburgh's most in demand DJs. Pete got his start 13 years ago in State College, Pennsylvania where a then 16-year old Peter Brockman found inspiration from DJs on college radio and New York City's Hot 97 during family trips. Following graduation from local Penn State University, the search for larger parties and culture lead Pete to Pittsburgh. Known for forward selections and seamless mixing, he quickly became a fixture at the cities best venues. Currently, Pete hosts and curates the monthly parties «Tall Tees», «Top Dollar» and «Pop Style» in addition to holding residencies at The Goldmark (Named 2016's best new bar by the Pittsburgh City Paper) and The Flats on Carson ( «2015's Best new bar» — Pittsburgh City Paper). With a reputation that carries beyond the city boundaries, this year's travel includes features at Miami's Sidebar, Kinfolk in Brooklyn, Tampa's The Drynk, Boston's Alibi, as well as nationwide opening the Good:AM tour with Mac Miller. Whether DJ'ing alongside stars like Wiz Khalifa & Sean Paul, handpicked by clients like Nike, Dior & Lexus or playing private parties for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pete Butta knows how to entertain any crowd.
Charity-minded workers from Pittsburgh’s tech sector spend one weekend giving back to local nonprofits by building websites and applications to solve their problems. Celebrate their giving spirit during the final project showcase happening at Hilltopolis.
All donations and proceeds go to Brashear Kids, a Hilltop nonprofit dedicated to serving the neighborhood's youth.
