Read the widely acclaimed memoir «Just Mercy» by Bryan Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama, and then join the CDS Parent Association at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 7 for our Community Book Talk event.
Stevenson is a Harvard Law School graduate who has argued six cases before the Supreme Court. «Just Mercy» describes his childhood in a poor and racially segregated settlement in Delaware—and how he came to be a lawyer dedicated to helping the poor, the incarcerated, and the condemned.
At the event, we will serve hot chocolate, along with facilitated discussion about «Just Mercy» in conversations guided by faculty members of the CDS Facing History and Ourselves team, as well as community leaders and experts.
This event is free and open to the community, so please invite your friends, family, and colleagues.
We aim to create space for open, honest, and deep conversations about this important book—and about systems of justice and equity in our community and in our country.
We hope you will join us with an open heart and an open mind, ready to both talk and to listen.
