«Smudging» is the word we use to describe the ritual act of spiritual cleansing, usually through the method of burning herbs and drawing the smoke over ourselves or in our home. In one form or another, smudging has been an act performed by many cultures as a way to cleanse, prepare, and create sacred space.
Making your own smudge stick is fun and easy! Alison Garber from Native Apothecary will show you how to create this beautiful sacred tool out of plants wild harvested from the beautifully abundant lands of Pennsylvania. She will show you the step-by-step process of properly binding these plants together to form your own smudge stick, tell you the plants' sacred stories, and the history of smudging. A Ceremony will also be performed to help guide you on your journey.
Cost is $30, which includes materials.
Pre-registration is required. Registration ends August 5th, 2018.
*Please know that the workshop leader takes cultural appropriation seriously and this subject will also be addressed.
