American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), Veterans for Peace (VFP) Chapter #47 and other groups in solidarity will gather at the Grant Building, 310 Grant Street, which houses the offices of both Senators Casey and Toomey, to demand the end of efforts to privatize the VA.
Veterans are speaking and have spoken. According to one survey, 78% of Veteran patients prefer to receive their care from VA facilities. The billions in funding that have been diverted to private care could have been used to address the severe staffing shortages in VA hospitals. The Inspector General has reported that privatization has resulted in overpayments and fraud by private providers.
We demand: VA to be fully funded and staffed;
Further that VHA cease and desist with forcing unwilling patients into unwanted private sector care plagued by medical errors and inappropriate billing and collection.
Our Veterans deserve better. Profiteering on the backs of Veterans’ health care is never acceptable! We in VFP and AFGE say enough is enough.
