Sat 6/23, Sewing 102: Intro to alterations, hems & reworking your wardrobe, 10-2pm
Ready to take control of your wardrobe? Tackle that sewing pile? Re work all that great vintage you've been holding onto? This introduction to alterations for intermediate stitchers will cover fitting, marking, and sewing techniques for approaching hems, tapers, darts and more. Bring along 3-4 alteration projects from home (variety of projects) and we'll tackle topstitch and blind hems, reshaping techniques, and conversion ideas for re-purposing and upcycling (pants to shorts, long sleeve to short sleeves, etc). This class welcomes, respects, and celebrates all bodies and gender identities.
Though you won't tackle every project you bring, it will give you the option in class of working 2-3- whatever time & your skill allows. Class is priced for a smaller class size so that you can get personalized attention from the teacher.
Supplies Needed: Bring projects that include hemming, taking things in, pants to shorts, etc (see above list). If not sure what to bring, just email us. We use a Janome 2212. Please do not bring your own machine.
Pre-requisite: You do need to know how to sew and feel comfortable on one of our machines. We recommend taking a Sewing 101 or Bootcamp first, then diving in to this class.
